Today I will share the ICC Cricket Champion Trophy 2025 hosted by Pakistan. This champion trophy is the 9th edition, is the top eight team in international one-day ranking. It will be host in Pakistan between February and March. PCB selects three venues Lahore, Karachi and Multan. Pakistan is the defending champion in previous edition 2017.
Previous History:
In 2017 ICC decide to cancelled future edition of champion trophy after 2017 because of aiming to only one major event in each format of ICC tournament after they announced the tournament would return in 2025 in Pakistan.
History Of Champion Trophy :
First champion trophy was held in Bangladesh in 1998. Total 9 teams participated in this event and South Africa won the final by West Indies.
Second edition was held in Kenya in 2000. Total 11 teams participated in this event and New Zealand won the title by defeated India.
The third edition was hosted England and featured 12 teams in 2002. Due to rain disrupted Sri Lanka and India were declared as jointly winner.
The 4th edition was held in England in2004. Total 12 teams taking a part in this tournament t. The final was held in Oval between England and West Indies. West Indies won the match by 2 wickets and 7 balls to spare.
The 5th edition was first which was held in India in2006. The final was played between Australia and West Indies in Mumbai. Australia won by 8 wickets.
The 6th edition was played in 2009 between 8 team in South Africa. The Aussie team won their 2nd consecutive title by 6 wickets.
The 7th edition was held in England in 2013. India won the title.
The 8th edition was also held in England between India and Pakistan in 2017. Pakistan put up the huge total 338/4 in 50 overs. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan) scored a brilliant century in final. Pakistan won by 180 runs.

Pakistan direct qualified as host country and other seven highest rank in world cup 2023. The first time the former champion Sri Lanka failed to qualify for the champion trophy 2025. Its will be a 1st international tournament the Pakistan has been sole host. Last major event was 1996 world cup with co-host with India and Sri Lanka. Chairman Pakistan cricket board Zaka Ashraf has signed the hosting rights agreement with General Counsel Jonathan hall in Dubai. This event has been going on for 8 year gap. Pakistan want to play whole tournament in for ground Multan, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. Time , schedule and date will be decided later. First round consist of two groups and than semi final and final. This event is short , rival and competitive. It is very excited and thrilled tournament because top 8 teams fighting together.

It is the tournament of top eights ranked team of international cricket. Champion trophy is the short and excited tournament, it is the ICC tournament with knock out system with 8 participant and 15 matches. After the attack of Sri Lanka team in Pakistan in march 2009 it is the first mega event which is hosted by Pakistan. Next after 2025 champion trophy will host by India in 2029. India will host 2nd time this mega event of the champion trophy (2006 and 2029).
